‘Be Ready’

How often did you open a door for some one, or held it open for someone to enter? Sometimes for a long time, your precious time… Jesus, right now is holding a door, it’s still open, but on that one day it will be closed, closed for good. Like for the girls with no extra fuel for their lamps. That little extra fuel, that little extra planning, that little extra baggage, it’s still worth it to Jesus. But you have to be careful, we carry a lot of extra ‘baggage’ and still that door to this feast is open! (Matthew 25:1-13) But the day that door will close, we and no body else with a living soul, know the day and hour, then Him alone. (Matthew 24:36-44) But how can you be ready? Ready in our sinful lives? Will it be like that if you’ve committed a sin and have not asked for forgiveness yet, will it be to late? I don’t believe so. We have to always be on guard though. Jesus knows our hearts and intentions. He knows our daily lives and struggles, so when that judgement hour comes He knows what He is mediating for! Why else did He die that horrible death? Hebrews 2:18: ‘For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.’

1 Peter 3:15: ‘But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.’ A hope of glory to come, showing in your daily doings, can be an example for others. It can be anywhere that the hope you share can be tested; ‘But as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts.’ (1 Thessalonians 2:4) ‘Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering and teaching.’ (2 Timothy 4:2) It’s not an easy journey, being tested so often. But with the endurance and willing power through the Holy Spirit, it’s a beautiful gift. As you’ll grow in patience and also in the faith.

Through the past year I’ve bin tested major, but only now I can thank the Lord for good people around me, who where there for me. Every day is a fight against evil and he will not give up until we give our last breath. When life is going well and things are striving, and your close to God – that for Satan is a reason to try anything to destroy it; you. He did a pretty good job with me, he almost had me… But Jesus went out and found His lost sheep, through the help of others. I was so not ready then and now I realize now how dangerous that was! I was out, wondering and ‘looking for extra fuel’. But the door wasn’t closed yet, because that glorious day is still to come! Thank the Lord for His patience with me.

He is still out there looking for more to enter that door, so now hurry and be ready!

‘Us’

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our Likeness.” (Genesis 1:26) It is eye opening how full scripture is of the Trinity. A few years ago I had a hard discussion with some Jehovah witnesses. As they don’t believe in the Trinity and they would like to win me over. I had to do my homework and was amazed in how many Bible text’s the God as 3 is used. Already in the beginning of the Bible it starts with the Trinity; For in the beginning their only was God, though He states ‘Us’ and ‘Our’, which points us to more then 1. And if God is not 1, one of them should have made the other 2. Even the Spirit was hovering the waters when the earth was still formless and empty.(Genesis 1:2)

John 1:1 tells us that; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. And John 10:30; ‘I and the Father are One.’ Galatians 3:20 tells us about Jesus as a Mediator, to stand for us in our sin; ‘A mediator, however, does not represent just one party; but God is one.’ So Jesus is our Mediator and God at the same. God is the Father (Mathew 23:9) God is the Son (Mathew 1:23) and God is the Holy Spirit (Mathew 10:20).

There is only One God. God is only One being and He is also Triune in His being; For only God can save us in new creation; God Himself will judge, and only through Jesus you can get to the Father, He has saved us in Himself through the Son and Spirit.

Jesus is also called many names; Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6) Jesus our Saviour like no other can ever be. A nice conformation is found in Isaiah 43:10,11; “You are my witnesses”, declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I even I, am the Lord, and apart from Me there is no Saviour.

Another nice verse; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; ‘There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men.’

How are we then, the heirs; children of God? Romans 8:16,17; ‘The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children of God, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share His glory.’

John 15:26; ‘When the Counsellor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, He will testify about Me.’ Galatians 4:6; ‘Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out “Abba, Father”.

Now in this discussion with the Jehovah witnesses, I was told Jesus is an arch-angel and that angels already existed upon creation, which they based on Proverbs 8 verse 27 and on. They also gave me the text of Mathew 28:18-20. But when reading it, it only clarifies that in verse 19 we are baptised in the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit; 3 Persons. But One; 1 Corinthians 8:6; ‘Yet for us there is one God, the Father of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and whom we live.’ See that in the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are both all things?

Titus 3:4,5: ‘But when the kindness and the love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.’ So how can Jesus be an angel, when He is God our Saviour? And how did the Spirit of God in the form of a dove, fall upon Jesus? How can God be with us when His Spirit dwells in us?

Because God said; ‘Let Us…’
